MIROSLAV TÓTH & DYSTOPIC REQUIEM QUARTET: BLACK ANGELS SONGS

BOOK I. & II.

Miroslav Tóth‘s Black Angels Songs is a sonic monument in commemoration of the anonymous victims of the Holocaust. It was inspired by George Crumb‘s Black Angels Quartet, a piece composed in 1971, during the Vietnam war. Miroslav Tóth dedicates this work to Barbora & Vojtech Gál, parents of Fedor Gál, one of the leading figures in the Public Against Violence movement. The story of Vojtech’s murder in a death march is not only a reminder, but also a way of coming to terms with the past.
